Capitol w flag

SNAP welcomes all Pennsylvania nursing students to attend SNAP’s upcoming legislative program. Capitol Hill Step by Step is an inspiring learning experience about the political process, and nursing students have the opportunity to learn virtually from several outstanding speakers, including the Honorable Tarik Khan, CRNP, PA District 194, Kevin Schreiber, President, York County Economic Alliance, and Elizabeth Long, MSN, RN, former SNAP Legislative Coordinator and Vice President.

The learning objectives are that at the conclusion of the program the participant will be able to:

1. Describe how a bill becomes a law;
2. Describe the relationship of the political process to the nursing profession; and
3. List three actions that individual nursing students can take to help influence the outcome of legislation and rules and regulations.

This is a day for nursing students to explore the world of legislation, the political process, and the ways in which nursing students can influence the outcome of legislation. Our speakers have firsthand experience with the legislative process and the nursing profession.

This year’s Capitol Hill: Step by Step event will be conducted virtually via Zoom and will allow for student interaction with the guest speakers while also giving flexibility with time and travel. The program begins at 9:00 a.m. and will conclude by 12:00 noon.
