You must be an NSNA/SNAP member, registered for the convention, and attend the Awards Celebration on Thursday evening. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. on October 15, 2026. Chapter Awards
Community Health Award
The objective of the SNAP Community Health Project Award is to encourage the development and implementation of nursing related community services projects. These projects are to educate healthcare consumers about illness prevention, early detection of disease and treatment options, and community awareness about changes in community health. The award will be determined based upon the entire process from planning through evaluation.
Chapter Excellence Award
The SNAP Membership Committee created the SNAP Chapter Excellence Award to recognize SNAP chapters from across the state. Versatility is a key component in the development of a successful and professional nurse. Versatility, defined as having the knowledge and/or displaying characteristics in many different areas, can also apply to the successful management of a SNAP chapter. The SNAP Board of Directors believes it is important to recognize and award those chapters who, through hard work and dedication, demonstrate versatility in their programs and activities that ultimately enhance their members’ participation.
Website Award
The primary purpose of chapter communications is to inform the membership of local/state nursing events and national nursing news in a timely, yet interesting manner. The chapter website should: 1) create interest for student participation at upcoming events; 2) inspire student contributions to the website; 3) promote a positive image of nursing; and 4) report on current issues/concerns regarding the profession of nursing.
Newsletter Award
The primary purpose of chapter communications is to inform the membership of local/state nursing events and national nursing news in a timely, yet interesting manner. The chapter newsletter should: 1) create interest for student participation at upcoming events; 2) inspire student contributions to the newsletter; 3) promote a positive image of nursing; and 4) report on current issues/concerns regarding the profession of nursing.
Social Media Award
The primary purpose of chapter communications is to inform the membership of local/state nursing events and national nursing news in a timely, yet interesting manner. This award is to recognize chapters that are including various social media platforms to keep in communication with their members and others.
Period Poverty Campaign Award
The SNAP Period Poverty Campaign brings chapters together to raise awareness and combat period poverty through education, advocacy, and donation. Through outreach, partnerships, and friendly competition, SNAP aims to reduce stigma and improve access to menstrual products in our communities.
Individual Member Awards
Faculty Advisor of the Year Award
The SNAP Adviser of the Year Award is given to one of SNAP’s Chapter Faculty Advisers each year. Chapters should complete the following application to have their Faculty Adviser be considered for this award. The award will be announced during the Awards Reception on Thursday, November 19.
Jamey Thiel Miller Legislative Award
Jamey Lynn Thiel Miller (November 8, 1968 – August 15, 2001) was a 1991 graduate of Villanova University College of Nursing. She served as chapter president as well as two terms as SNAP’s Legislative Coordinator. Jamey had a strong interest in government and public health issues related to nursing. Jamey passed away after a long battle against glioblastoma. This award is dedicated to her involvement and leadership role affiliated with SNAP and the nursing profession.
Dr. Rena Lawrence Memorial Award
The Rena Lawrence Memorial Award is presented to a distinguished nursing student who exemplifies the attributes and drive of Dr. Lawrence by demonstrating outstanding achievement and commitment to nursing excellence. This award is given to recognize an individual who excels in all the following aspects of nursing: academics, personal and professional growth, leadership and citizenship.
