Honorary Member & Advisor of the Year Awards

Honorary Member : Lori Klingman, Ohio Valley General Hospital and Dr. Diane Spatz, University of Pennsylvania

Lori Klingman

Lori Klingman MSN, RN has been attending both state and national conventions for many years.  She has also presented workshops at both the state and national levels.  She is an excellent role model for all nursing students and has encouraged professional development, having had students elected to both the state and national boards of directors.  Her support of SNAP activities and the support of her students within our organization has been outstanding.  She is known as an advocate for student issues, and is a highly competent nursing educator and a person you would want as your friend.

Dr. Diane SpatzDr. Diane Spatz is a regular presence at both the state and national convention and actively supports the Pennsylvania delegation by attending the House of Delegate meetings, caucuses and faculty meetings.   She has mentored her students to run for office, and has been successful in having her students elected to office at both the state and national levels.  She is internationally known for her work in her clinical specialty.  If ever there is a need, SNAP knows that we can call her and she is always willing to help by presenting workshops, mentoring students from other chapters at convention, or just lending a listening ear. Our beloved Laura Breyfogle was one of her biggest fans!

Advisor of the Year: Dr. Lydia Wall, UPMC Shadyside School of Nursing

Dr. Lydia Wall A quote from the student's submission:  "Our advisor has provided not only our SNAP chapter with motivation and enthusiasm for professional development, but also with every student she comes in contact with.  She encouraged our chapter to attend the National Convention and sought approval and support from our administrators  - a huge advancement for our chapter.  The NSNA Convention in Salt Lake City was this chapter's first appearance at a national convention.  She also encouraged us to submit a resolution to the SNAP House of Delegates, another first.   She has been instrumental with several other programs, such as the Ambassador Program, and Student Nurse Grand Rounds.  She has not only pushed her students to further their education, but stands as a true inspirational role model, as she has been very accomplished at such a young age.  Her drive and determination is admirable, and definitely has become infectious."

SCORE! NCLEX Championship Bowl

LTriC
The 2007 SNAP Board of Directors thought that having a competition at the state convention each year would be another opportunity for nursing students to participate, while instilling a little good-hearted competition between the various schools of nursing across the state. Thanks to Albert Einstein Healthcare Network, there will also be a monetary award, along with the beautiful championship silver bowl, which the winning team will keep until next year's event. Teams will be selected on a "first come, first served" basis. Teams are made up of five participants and one alternate.

Congratulations to Lehigh Carbon Community College for winning this years' SCORE! NCLEX Championship Bowl
